Kerry Kelly Oster was introduced to Irish Dancing at the age of 5. Along with her five younger brothers & sisters, the Kelly Family traveled around the world competing & performing. Kerry's youngest daughter, Meghan, also earned her T.C.R.G. certification in 2007.

Katie Roper Izzo, a long time family friend of the Osters' joined the school in 2017 when she received her T.C.R.G. certification.

Karyn Oster T.C.R.G.

Before Karyn was old enough to dance she would sing at shows to give her older aunts & uncles a break to change their shoes. It wasn't long before she joined the rest of her family in those performances. Karyn won her first North American Title at the age of 4 with the Cathy Spencer School Dance Drama. She won her first regional & national solo titles at the age of 8 and never looked back. When Cathy Spencer decided to close the doors to her school Karyn joined the Kelly-Oster School under the instruction of her mother. From there she continued on to win Regional, National, All-Ireland & World Championship solo & team medals.
Many of her greatest performances include 13 years with the Frank Patterson St. Patrick’s Day Show at Radio City Music Hall & Carnegie Hall, Senator and Governor functions, and acceptance to ‘Riverdance the Show’ in 1997.

Karyn decided to pursue her education at the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
She continued to compete & perform with musical entertainers such as Cherish the Ladies. In 2000 Karyn headed to Galway, Ireland for study abroad and fell in love with the Irish culture. She stayed for 3 years & continued her dancing education with the Hession School. Upon her return to the USA, Karyn received her T.C.R.G. certification and reunited with the Kelly-Oster School as a teacher.

In 2010 Karyn passed the adjudication exam, receiving her A.D.C.R.G. certification, and is now a qualified Irish Dancing judge.  When she is not teaching during the week, she is traveling the county attending feisanna and adjudicating dancers.

Meghan Oster T.C.R.G.

Another daughter of Kerry's, who has rejoined the school as a teacher, is the youngest of the three Oster daughters, Meghan Oster. Dancing from the young age of 3, Meghan has grown up following in the footsteps of her older sisters. She has achieved many accomplishments of her own, such as the youngest Irish Dancing soloist at Radio City Music Hall, Regional, National & World championship placements, along with many more achievements.  During her Senior year at Fordham University, she also received her T.C.R.G. certification.  Now married with baby number 4 on the way, Meghan is a part time teacher in the school.

Katie Roper Izzo T.C.R.G.

Katie began Irish dancing at the age of 6 under the instruction of Margaret Pike, and later her daughter Ellen Pike.  When the Pike School closed in 2002 Katie continued dancing for the Kevin Broesler School until she retired from competition while pursuing her undergraduate studies at Iona College.

During her many years of dancing, Katie consistently competed in regional, national and international competitions, such as the All-Ireland and World Championships.  Some highlights of Katie’s dancing career include several top 10 placements at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Oireachtas and a 5th place finish at the North American Championships, which earned her the distinction of being the highest placing North American in that competition.  Katie also achieved two 2nd place solo medals for soft shoe at the All-Ireland Championships and several World Championship medals.

In addition to competition, Katie’s love for dancing has provided her with many opportunities to perform in the tri-state area.  Katie has danced on famous stages numerous times, such as Carnegie Hall and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, as part of Frank Patterson’s annual St. Patrick’s Day shows.  For many years, she also performed as a guest dancer with the Trinity Dance Company at the Joyce Theater in New York City and with Black 47 at various venues including Shea Stadium’s Irish Night.  Katie has also performed multiple times at the Westchester Dinner Theater in Elmsford, NY.

In 2017, Katie finally achieved the ultimate Irish dance accomplishment of earning her T.C.R.G. teacher certification.  She is very excited to share her passion for, and love of Irish dance with all the students of the Kelly-Oster School.
